Business travellers are increasingly targeted by a range of threat actors from nation-state operatives and criminal syndicates to corporate competitors and activist groups. Conventional cyber and physical security training often overlooks the one factor most frequently exploited: the traveller’s own behaviour, psychology, and decision-making.

GSA Global’s Counter Compromise Training Course is an immersive, scenario-led programme designed to equip security and travel-risk personnel with the insight, tools, and confidence to prepare and protect their travellers against compromise both human and technical.

This course is ideally suited to professionals responsible for safeguarding personnel who travel for business, including:

  • Travel Risk Managers
  • Corporate Security Officers
  • Executive Protection Personnel
  • Frequent business travellers operating in sensitive or high-risk environments
  • Travellers handling sensitive or high-value information

Delivered as an in-person residential course, it blends structured lectures with scenario-based practical exercises designed to foster real-world decision-making.

A train-the-trainer format enables sponsors to cascade the learning internally, amplifying the benefit across their organisation.

What Sets This Counter Compromise Course Apart

The Counter Compromise course goes beyond traditional travel safety training by placing the human dimension of risk at the forefront. Participants explore how adversaries including foreign intelligence operatives, insiders, and social engineers, exploit vulnerabilities in behaviour, trust, and perception.

Developed and delivered by experts from intelligence, law enforcement, and corporate security backgrounds, the course uses real-world case studies and adversary tactics to illustrate modern threats.

Participants gain the mindset and methodology needed to identify traveller-risk indicators, engage effectively with their organisation’s business-travel community, and deliver impactful security briefings to senior executives.

Key Topics Covered

  • Over two intensive days, participants explore topics critical to understanding and mitigating compromise risks including:
    • the psychological, demographic, and environmental factors that shape a traveller’s risk profile;
    • methods used by hostile actors such as elicitation, deception, and insider cultivation; and
    • the practical vulnerabilities associated with digital devices, accommodation, covert eavesdropping, and cross-border movement,
  • Through facilitated sessions and practical exercises, participants will be exposed to real world cases, adversarial approaches, traveller/subject debriefings, and how to develop mitigation plans grounded in behavioural awareness.

Organisational Benefits

  • By the end of the course, students will
    • understand the threat landscape from both a human and technical perspective;
    • be equipped to act as internal trainers, helping embed a culture of security within their organisation
  • This training enhances an organisation’s duty of care obligations by enabling earlier identification of potential compromises of employees.
  • It improves incident response protocols.
  • It fosters co-operation between different teams involved in travel risk management such as HR, legal and IT.

Cost

The cost per student will be £1500 +VAT. This will include the cost of the course, student materials, refreshments and lunch. Accommodation and travel costs are not included.
