We engaged GSA Global to provide international executive protection for a senior executive undertaking a complex itinerary across Asia and Europe.

The assignment involved multiple locations, security stakeholders and operating environments, with limited time in each country. We needed a partner capable of managing that complexity behind the scenes while ensuring the principal’s experience remained seamless.

Why GSA Global

For us, as a security team, the people providing executive protection are ambassadors for our organisation. Maturity, integrity and behaviour are therefore just as important as technical experience.

What attracted us to GSA Global was the pedigree of its people and its understanding of the type of protection we required. We were not looking for an unnecessarily visible security presence. We wanted experienced people who could operate confidently but discreetly around senior executives and be trusted with sensitive information.

In addition, GSA also demonstrated a clear understanding of contemporary threats and risks, providing confidence that its approach reflected the environment executives operate in today.

The Approach

The itinerary involved movement between Asia and Europe, different time zones and a relatively limited amount of time in each location.

GSA deployed local operatives with an understanding of the language, culture and operating environment in each country. They were able to work effectively with hotels, private aviation facilities and those responsible for facilitating the executive’s movements.

Behind the scenes, the assignment involved several security representatives across different countries and regions. Each stakeholder had a voice in the preparation, while GSA provided the leadership needed to bring the different elements together into one coordinated operation.

The Outcome

From the principal’s perspective, the movement from Asia to Europe was seamless.

The personnel changed between locations, as expected, but the standard of delivery did not. The feedback we received following the assignment from the internal stakeholders was extremely positive and gave us confidence that GSA could deliver the same level of service across very different operating environments.

Another important benefit was responsiveness. International executive travel is subject to change, sometimes at short notice. GSA demonstrated that it could adapt quickly when requirements changed rather than allowing those changes to disrupt the wider operation.

“Wherever we go, we have the assurance of knowing there will be a consistent benchmark of quality.” Head of Corporate Security

Key Learnings

The assignment reinforced that successful executive protection depends as much on people and relationships as it does on security expertise.

With numerous stakeholders involved, the ability to communicate, understand different requirements and bring people together was fundamental. The principal did not need to see that complexity. They simply needed the operation to work.

That is an important distinction in executive protection. The work behind the scenes can be considerable, but good delivery should feel effortless to the person being protected.

Looking Ahead

Following this assignment, we know we have a partner we can turn to when an international executive protection requirement arises, including when plans change or timescales are short.

“We would recommend GSA Global to other organisations looking for an executive protection partner. They understand the environments in which senior executives operate, respond quickly and, importantly, are open about what they can and cannot deliver.” Head of Corporate Security

That honesty builds trust, and trust is fundamental when you are placing the safety of your people in someone else’s hands.
